Director/Producer/Stage Manager
STEPHANIE A. COLTRIN is an award-winning, Los Angeles-based Producer and Director with over 200 productions to her credit, ranging from musicals to Shakespeare, comedy to drama and World Premieres. Currently the Associate Artistic Director at Rubicon Theatre, directing credits there include the Almost Maine, Buyer and Cellar, Taking Sides, Sylvia, Moonlight and Magnolias, the Ovation-recommended production of The Last Five Years (all at Rubicon Theatre in Ventura). Stephanie was the Artistic Director of CLO of South Bay Cities and the Hermosa Beach Playhouse, helming a ten-show season at both venues, and directing productions including Miss Saigon (Ovation winner for Best Musical, and earning her a directing nomination), Seussical the Musical (Broadway World Award-Best Director), Jesus Christ Superstar (Stage Scene L.A. Award- Director) Oklahoma, Bark!, She Loves Me and The 1940's Radio Hour. At Hermosa Beach Playhouse, she directed A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, Godspell, Barefoot in the Park, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Private Lives, Steel Magnolias, Blithe Spirit, Art, The Green Room (World Premiere), Moonlight and Magnolias, Come Back to the Five and Dime..., Sylvia, Quilters and others. She is also Co-Artistic Director for Shakespeare by the Sea (a summer Shakespeare festival touring two shows in rep every summer to more than 24 locations throughout Southern California), having directed Richard III, Richard II (virtual production), Twelfth Night (virtual production), Titus Andronicus, Henry V, The Winter's Tale, Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet, The Tempest, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, King John and will this summer be directing Hamlet for a second time. For her work with SBTS, Stephanie was interviewed on PBS as well as for a Folger Shakespeare Library podcast. She serves as Artistic Associate for the 65 seat Little Fish Theatre, directing productions such as The Lonesome West, Bloody Poetry, Oswald: the Actual Interrogation, Bach at Leipzig, The Love List, Panache and Stones in His Pockets and The Lonesome West. She is the Producer and Casting Director for Rubicon Theatre. She has created and taught master classes in musical theatre audition technique, taught graduate seminars at UC Irvine, served as an Ovation voter, and for three years was a judge for L.A.'s Next Great Stage Star. Prior to directing and producing, Stephanie was a production manager for Odyssey Theatre and Director of Production for Rubicon, and was a Production Stage Manager for over 60 productions throughout the L.A. area at theatres such as McCoy Rigby, Reprise, El Portal, Skirball, Hudson, Blank, LATC, L.A. Women's Shakespeare, the Odyssey, the Tiffany and the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. In addition to her work on the stage, she also works in film as a Production Coordinator. Film credits include "The Silent Natural," "Aloha With Love," and "Me You Madness."
